US SEC shortens stock disclosure deadline to 5 days

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has reduced the timeline for investors to disclose 5% ownership stakes in companies they plan to control. The new rule shortens the allowed window from 10 calendar days to five business days. The proposal faced criticism from activist investors who claimed that earlier disclosure could hinder their ability to build ownership positions for successful takeover campaigns.
